TOP 5 LOST QUESTIONS WE’VE FORGOTTEN

WE ASKED

5: ADAM AND EVE

Adam and Eve are the names given to the skeletons found in the cave where the survivors found fresh water.
What?  You don’t remember them?  I don’t blame you.  They appeared for a grand Aande total of one episode.  Jack found them, Locke named them, and in a pouch Adam was carrying were one black and one white stone.
So what is the answer?:  The prevailing school of thought seemed to be that the skeletons were Jack and Kate, somehow thrown back in time and eventually dying in the cave.  This was way before anyone went back in time, so this theory was ahead of it’s time.  Of course there is no proof that they are Jack and Kate, they could be any male/female pair.  Sawyer and Juliette.  Jin and Sun. Locke and weird female Locke.  (I wouldn’t put it past them.)
We do know that, while the skeletons may/may not be someone we know, they are important to the story.  In a interview the creators of Lost say that the mystery of Adam & Eve is going to be answered, so we’ve got that going for us.

4: WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN

Of course you remember the numbers.  They were on the hatch, you had to punch them in to the computer.  The numbers were everywhere, I remember the numbers.
But what no one seems to ask anymore is what the hell do the numbers mean anyway?
Thenumbers
Which is a shame, because this one is not only an easy one to answer, it has already been answered and no one seems to have noticed.
Possibly because the answer wasn’t given on Lost, but on a Alternate Reality Game (ARG) known as the Lost Experience that took place between season 2 and 3.  Now if you are like my friend Bill, you don’t consider anything that happened off the TV show to be a part of the story, and I can respect that , so consider this a spoiler that will be explained sometime during the next (and last) season.
The numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 are really called The Valenzetti Equation, a mathematical formula designed to predict the end of humanity.  (And like most really heavy mathematical stuff it is only really understood by mathematicians.  Is it a date?  Is it a  …  not date?) The reason the Dharma Initiative is on the island in the first place is to try and change one of the numbers in the equation.  Change a number, change humanities fate.  Easy.
Of course we don’t know HOW to change a number, who decides if a number is well and truly changed, and what will actually happen if a number is actually changed.  I doubt we’ll go that deep into it during the last season.  But the powers that be just have to tell us about the numbers, they just have to … or I’ll cry!!!

Or, and I’m just throwing this one out there, maybe one of the results of Juliet blowing up the hydrogen bomb is a change in the numbers?  Now that is something to think about.

3: WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH WALT?

You remember Walt don’t you?  Michael’s son.  The one who was kidnapped by the WaltAnnoyedothers.  The one Michael betrayed his fellow castaways (and killed two of) to get him off the island.  You remember Walt, don’t you?
And if you remember Walt, then you have to remember that some weird stuff happens around him.
So what is the answer?:  I don’t know, and I don’t think we’ll ever learn the truth here.  Walt is gone and I think the odds are very low that we’ll see him again.  Which I’m ok with.  Not all answers need to be revealed, and the question of Walt is one I’m ok with remaining a question.
   Or Aliens.

2: WHY DOES THE ISLAND HEAL?

Locke’s legs, Rose’s cancer.  The island seems to cure pretty much anything short of death.  But how?
Good news everybody, it seems we will learn this one, just not soon… maybe.
It has been confirmed, by the guy who plays Locke none the less, that the history and meaning of the island will be explained in a four page monologue given by Locke, or whoever is inside of Locke, at some point during the season.
So we’ve got this going for us.

1: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TAILIES?

So what happened?:  I have no idea, and I don’t think we’ll ever learn.  The peopleTailies behind Lost seemed to have forgotten about the tailies and their children and it seems the answer is just going to remain “The Others do weird things and this is another one.”
On the other hand, it wouldn’t take a lot of explain this one.  Ben can solve this one in two sentences.  “We offered your adults a better life and they took it.  And no child should be a castaway so we brought them to the safety of the nearest thing to civilization there was on this island.”
But of course if the whole thing re-boots tonight, as many expect, then it just doesn’t matter.
